Chuck Bass Fashion on Gossip Girl – Best Dressed on TV Chuck Bass

6th Best Dressed Man on TV: Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl

chuck-bass-fashionGossip Girl may be one of the most fashion-centric television shows in recent history. The characters on the show embody class and style that most people can only dream to live up to, especially considering how expensive some of these pieces are. Ed Westwick’s character Chuck Bass is the perfect example of how young men don’t have to fall prey to the fashion mistakes that are so often made by people of his age; indeed, this is one well-dressed guy. He was a heavy favorite going into the contest, yet, to our surprise, he was only voted to 6th place on our Best Dressed Men on TV list.

Dressing like Chuck Bass will certainly set you back a bit cash-wise, but it’s a great idea for anyone who lives in the city and wants to look their best on a daily basis. Consider all of the following style elements when setting out to dress like Chuck Bass. Oh, and you might want to consider getting a second job to afford the clothes.

Designer Chic, Daily
One of the first things that most people recognize about Chuck Bass is that he looks his best every single day. This is someone who isn’t content with throwing on a pair of sweatpants when laying around the house. From his Armani loafers to his exceptionally attractive designer flannel suits, Bass knows that just because one is dressing casually doesn’t mean they should be dressing sloppily. Daily designer chic is more of a lifestyle than anything else, and requires a certain personality to be able to truly pull off. If you can relate to the character, though, this might not be as difficult as you think. Just be sure to pad your wardrobe with nothing but the best ensemble elements.

The Pocket Square
When Bass throws on a luxurious suit, he does so correctly. Navy suits, lilac dress shirts, and electric-blue paisley ties are the norm for the character, and fit his image perfectly. What ties it all together, however, is the pocket square. Bass uses pocket squares as a way to add subtle contrast to the rest of his suit, and does so effortlessly. It’s amazing just how effective a small piece like the pocket square can be, and wearing one can truly take your ensemble to the next level. Just be sure it isn’t too close to the color of the tie you wear, as the closer the two colors get to one another, the more likely it is that clashing will occur. Our tip: pick a boldly patterned pocket square (paisleys or polka dots are perfect) and fold it with a so-called Puff-fold.

Bow Tie or Neckties?
The simple answer is: both! To truly dress like this TV fashion icon you should have at least a dozen different neckties and an equal amount of bow ties in your wardrobe. Our tip: Stick to self-tied bow ties with elaborate patterns and unique fabric weaves. Paisleys, tartans, and polka dots are excellent choices here. Also, have at least two or three solid bow ties in light pastel colors such as light blue and pink which will make a perfect summer accessory – especially when paired with a complementing pocket square.

Layer after Layer
Chuck Bass goes to great lengths when putting together an ensemble, which is quite evident in the way he layers his clothing. Some of his outfits are comprised of three or even four layers just on the top half of his body; something that most guys simply don’t take the time to do. A plaid shirt underneath a solid vest, for example, can look incredible when tied off with the right overcoat. In this way, Bass harkens back to the days when men truly put themselves together in a calculated manner, and there’s no reason why you can’t do the same if you decide to put your mind to it.
