Matching Striped Shirt with Striped Tie

How to Match Striped Ties with a Striped Shirt

When combining different patterns on shirt, suit, and tie. It is easiest if the design-patterns vary on each clothing item. A good example: A suit with prince of Whales check pattern, a narrow striped dress shirt, and a necktie with larger paisley pattern. But how would you go about matching two or even three clothing pieces with the same pattern into one outfit? Well, even though it is a little more tricky it can be done. What is most important is that the patterns are different in size. The picture on the left is a perfect example. A solid navy-blue suit, is paired with a narrow white and blue striped dress shirt. Because the tie has a much wider diagonal striping pattern, shirt and tie are not “biting” into each other, but are a perfect compliment to one another. Also, have a look at the colors. The navy, burgundy, and white striped tie is a perfect match to the suit and shirt.
