Duncan_Fashion_Mistakes

Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs is sincerely one of the greatest players in the game right now. He’s considered by many to not only be an inspiration, but a player who has done a great deal to push the NBA in a forward direction with his philanthropy. Unfortunately though, Duncan is not know for his style, and he did in fact made our list of worst dressed athletes of all time. Duncan takes relaxed casual to a subterranean level with his oversized sweatshirts, flip flops and baseball caps. We have no idea where this 6’11” superstar is able to find oversized sweatshirts –but he surely does. Our hats go off to Duncan for his all-star dunks and his charity work but not his fashion proclivities and especially not his sweatshirts.

The Loose Sweatshirt
We all love the sweatshirt; it’s an Americana classic for lounge wear. But by no means is a loose sweatshirt a fashion piece to be worn out and about for million dollar deals. Tim Duncan is notorious for wearing a loose, disheveled and oversized sweatshirt to his contract signing. This isn’t the only time Duncan has been seen rocking the loose sweatshirt. It’s become his trademark piece making him one of the worst dressed athlete superstars of all time. No matter one’s level of talent, there should always be a commitment to a certain degree of professionalism.

Flip Flops
The other item that Duncan wore to his contract signing worth millions? -A pair of flip flops. Flip flops are flip flops and belong on the beach. No means possible are flip flops a suitable footwear choice for a high profile even with millions of onlookers, supporters and fans. There’s simply no excuse for opting to dress in such an exaggerated casual manner. Still, a lot of his fans applauded him for making this move, simply because they felt as if it showed how much confidence he had in his abilities on the court. Ability is certainly important, but you need to be able to back it up by putting together an effective ensemble that doesn’t make you look like you’re in a high school drop-out.

What to Avoid
If you’re looking to avoid the pitfalls of Tim Duncan’s famous contract signing ensemble, it’s simple. Don’t wear an oversized sweatshirt and flip flops. There’s always a time and place for everything with an associated etiquette attached. Learn a lesson from Duncan, and dress appropriately for dynamite occasions. We don’t know about you, but we’re willing to put on a blazer for a multi-million dollar contract. His tall stature is also no excuse for not finding the right clothes. Custom tailoring is always an option (especially when money is not a restricting factor of such luxury), and even ties are made in extra long length as well for all big and tall men.
