Fashion Faux Pas When Wearing Sandals

Summer is the time to wear shorts, t-shirts, and sandals. Before putting on the next best pair of flip-flops learn what looks to avoid when dressing in open-toed footwear. Below are the biggest fashion mistakes men make when dressing in sandals.

Get a Pedicure!
There is nothing worse then long toe nails, ingrown nails, flapping dead skin, and/or feet covered in blisters when going open-toed. Make sure that you get a pedicure or spend some time cutting your toe nails, and scrubbing of dead skin.

Avoid the “German Tourist Look”
You can spot them from a while away. The combo of sandal and tennis sock is an eyesore to everyone but the person wearing it. So in short, never wear socks in your sandals. If you do, you better also add a fanny pack, and an over-sized camera.

Avoid “Granola”
Yes, Birkenstocks offer good arch support and are healthier than the average sandal. But there are better and more stylish options out there. Choose a pair of sandals that channel sophistication and not hippy-esque summer camp.

Avoid the “Tank” Look
Stay away from sandals that are too bulky or look like an open-tied hiking shoe. Sandals should never weigh more than your pair of running shoes. Look for sandals that are light-weight and compliment the summer-look of shorts and T-shirt. Think “Beach” and not “Trail”.

Stay away from Shower-Sandals
Unless you are walking to soccer practice, or come out of the locker room, never wear athletic sandals with casual wear. While the rubber-material on these “shower-sandals” are perfect for what they are intended to be, choose more natural materials for your casual wear sandals.
